The screening committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Governorship election in the Southeast has interviewed at least 37 aspirants in the three of the five states in the region.
Aspirants from Abia, Ebonyi and Enugu States were at the party’s zonal office for the exercise in Enugu on Thursday.
More aspirants were expected to be screened later in the day.
Among the well-known aspirants were former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, Senate Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe and Enugu East Senator, Gilbert Nnaji.
The other aspirants included Fide Nwankwo, Chris Usulor, Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, Igwe Nwagu and Anayo Edwin, all from Ebonyi State.
Also from Ebonyi State were Chukwuma Nwazunku, Augustine Nwazunku, Sylvester Ogbaga, Emmanuel Eze, Anayo Edwin and Obinna Ogba.
Abia State aspirants included Nnanna Nwafor, Don Lulu, Senator Emma Nwaka and former Vice Chancellor of Abia State University, Prof. Uchenna Ikonne, who is believed to be the anointed Governorship candidate of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.
Other from Abia State were: Chima Anyaso, Ude Oko Chukwu, Lucky Igbokwe, Hon. Samson Orji, Chief Ncheta Omerekpe and Engr Nana Nwafor.
Those who had also been screened for Enugu State included Denge Joseph Onoh; Chinyeaka Ohaa, Barth Nnaji, Dr. Gabriel Ajah and Prof. Hilary Edeoga.
Others were Chijioke Edeoga, Peter Mba, Capt Evarest Nnaji, Beloved Dan Anike, Rev. Raph Nwoye, Chief Chikwado Chukwunta, Dr. Kingsley Udeh and Barr. Nwabueze Ugwu.
Some of the screened aspirants commended the party leadership and the screening committee for transparency of the ongoing exercise.
