The Nigeria Patriotic Coalition (NPC) has called on leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to step up their engagements in order to deliver a candidate that has the capacity to win next year’s election.

In a statement by the Convener of the front line campaign group for presidential aspirant, Dr Kayode Fayemi, Hon. Yemi Akinbode, the group appreciated APC governors and leaders of the northern states for agreeing to power rotation and pulling their weight behind the emergence of the party’s presidential candidate from the south.

“This is a clear demonstration that APC, unlike the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is a fair-minded institution which has in its DNA the spirits of national unity, cohesion and progress”, Akinbode said.

The NPC said that, as the consultations continue, APC hierarchy, including President Muhammadu Buhari, the Governors, the presidential aspirants themselves, other party elders and stakeholders should zero in on a candidate that is energetic, focused on rescuing Nigeria and ensuring that all citizens are treated as equals.

Akinbode further said: “That candidate is no other than Dr John Kayode Fayemi, who has demonstrated the abilities to lead Nigeria into a more prosperous future through his performance as Minister, Governor and a stabilising factor for the Nigerian Governors Forum, which embraces state Chief Executives of diverse political parties”.

The NPC Convener pointed out that the ability of Candidate Fayemi to deliver the votes for APC pan Nigeria is not in doubt with the massive network and goodwill.

“It will be a tragedy of monumental proportion if APC fail to put its best candidate forward to challenge PDP’s Atiku Abubakar and others who will be on the ballot in the February 2023 presidential election”, Akinbode admonished.

The APC will hold its special convention in Abuja from 6th to 8th June to elect its presidential candidate.
