The Squash Section of Lagos Country Club concluded its four-day Annual Squash Ladder Challenge last Friday with Dr Olubunmi Apata topping the Gold Ladder as he scored 93 points from 24 intensive matches.
The tournament, sponsored by Swifta Systems and Services Limited, also had Deji Sule going on top of the ladder in the Veteran Category, while Dimeji Dare-William won the Most Improved Player of the tournament and Alhaji Giwa Oladapo took the prize for playing the most matches in the competition.
A record of over 500 matches were played amongst 47 participants.
At a brief prize giving ceremony, Head of Sales, Swifta, Mr Kemi Orelaja acknowledged the bonding value of the competition, and said that it was not only healthy but fun.
As a Tech company that is in touch with the future, he expressed optimism that future tournaments would be greater than the current one. He explained that the company’s mission was to add value and be a problem solver on IT and ancillary area.
The Chairman of Squash Section, Sir Semoore Badejo thanked the sponsor and looked forward to a mutually beneficial relationship with the company on a long term basis. He said he was sure that next year’s tournament would be bigger with more participating members.
