Education officers have expressed worries over their lack of promotions by the Federal Ministry of Education.
Despite meeting the criteria, the officers said they had not been promoted for over six years, leading to demotivation, decreased productivity, and a decline in academic performance.
Affected staff urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene by requesting a Special Presidential Waiver to create additional promotion vacancies.
They also want the Federal Civil Service Commission to use consequential vacancies for the 2024 supplementary promotion to boost morale.
According to Public Service Rules, officers scoring 60% or above in the promotion examination are eligible for promotion, but officers said despite passing the examination multiple times, many of them remained unpromoted.
