Mixed reactions trail Tinubu’s action over Oronsaye report

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Monday approved the implementation of the recommendations of the Steve Oronsaye panel on the restructuring and rationalisation of Federal agencies, parastatals and commissions.

The Oronsaye report was submitted in 2012 to the Goodluck Jonathan administration, In 2014, the Jonathan government released a white paper on the report. The Buhari administration after re-examining the white paper also released a second white paper in August 2022 without implementation.

The rising question is, will the report if fully implemented by the federal government have effect on the economy situation which has affected the cost of living of many Nigerians?

The Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, Mr. Bayo Onanuga said an eight-man committee has been set up with a 12-week deadline to ensure necessary legislative amendments to implement the reforms are effected in an efficient manner.
