A young man named Melvin was bruised and battered by the boisterous wind of life. Throughout the turbulent season filled with ugly life ordeals, this young man had nobody stepping up to help. With a Master’s degree in Economics/International Relations, everywhere was a minefield of mires and troubles. Money was scarce. Life was miserable.

The shame Melvin experienced with family members and friends was too unbearable for Melissa, his wife.
One day, Melissa sat down her husband in a heart-to-heart chit-chat. She explained why she believed it was important for her to move out of town for a little while in search of succor. Melissa left town for the big city. She auctioned off her body daily in prostitution business to make ends meet and support her husband back home. Friends and family members fled from Melvin because when a man is a failure, few are his friends. Not even the small church he had been a part of for many years could lend a helping hand.

One beautiful Sunday, there was the Anointing Service in church. Amiable Melvin was in attendance. He prayed earnestly. He worshipped fervently with fiery dance-steps that many in the church found very unusual and out-of-character. Service ended; Melvin left church and came back home to end the misery and pain that had been his bedfellow for a long season. That same beautiful Sunday turned ugly and tragic! Mark ended it all. His lifeless body was discovered in the backyard of the house.

It is true we may not be certain what good might have come through for Melvin after his trials and tribulations, but why must you give up when God may be working things out behind the scene?

You must have heard stories of people who have been clobbered and hit by cyclone of difficulties and piercing pangs of life’s challenges. Millions of men, women, and children are in the trenches of horror situations that they see no hope for escape and liberty. They are our neighbors, friends, and family members. People’s troubles come in varying shades, shapes and intensities. The rich have their own volley of troubles.

The poor man daily deals with his own deluge of trials. Men are not spared from the hammer of trials; women and children are not exempted from tests. If you are reading off of the easy page of life today with no difficulties, mock not those who are challenged. Our world is filled with too much suffering. Somebody once said that the pleasure in this world outweighs the pain; or, at any rate, there is an even balance between the two.

But when pain and suffering come; they do with a big bang and pang. A man’s endless and protracted pain provokes lots of questions that no one can answer. When human beings are boxed up in the pressure-cooker of life, death is often an appealing option.

May be somebody who is fed up with life and making plans to end it all like Melvin, is reading this story. Why give it up when God is working it out for you? Don’t do it. Years ahead of you will be glorious. Keep fighting and persevering with God on your side. He will make all things beautiful for you and family. The pain you’re going through today may be part of God’s plan. He is the writer of our stories. What He writes are always right. You’ll come out of this with big testimonies.
