The second edition of Nzuko 2022 will take place from 24th to 26th May 2022, with the support of Msingi Afrika magazine and television.

The online conference celebrates Africa’s Economic and Cultural Week and is the brainchild of AfricaFora, whose focus include the promotion and diffusion of Black and African culture and products worldwide.

According to Nzuko founder Winifred Uloaku Gaillard, AfricaFora aims to revive the many ideas behind the creation of Organisation of African Unity, which later became the Africa Union. These include ridding the continent remnants of colonialism and apartheid; promoting unity and solidarity amongst African states; and enabling Africa to fend for its citizens.

An annual event anchored by AfricaFora, the Nzuko series promotes trade and culture from Africa and the Diaspora.

“At AfricaFora, we believe that African culture can be mixed with tried and tested economic policies to promote economic development in Africa, rather than the ill-conceived opinion that African culture is a hindrance to Africa’s development”, Gaillard said.

She further said: “Through Nzuko, AfricaFora aims to revive the many ideals behind the creation of Organisation of African Unity (OAU) which later became the Africa Union (AU), notably: to rid the continent of any remnants of colonialism and apartheid; promote unity and solidarity amongst African states, and for an Africa that fends for its citizens among others.

“Nzuko hopes to achieve this by bringing together experts and lead thinkers from the civil societies from Africa, the Diaspora and friends of Africa, annually to commemorate Africa Day, address the problems that beleaguer Africa, such as the taking over of the telling of our narratives, as well as the initiation of new projects or supporting the execution of existing ones in the local communities. We also showcase innovations as well as local products”.

Participation is by registration only through https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/nzuko-2022-africa-economic-and-cultural-week-tickets-275986572267.

AfricaFora’s vision is to promote life in an independent, self-reliant, self-sufficient and peaceful Africa and a mission to showcase black and African culture and products; boost intra-African trade, cooperation and collaboration, and promote Africa’s human and natural resources for a dignified, proud and prosperous Africa.
