The Commissioner of the National Population Commission (NPC) for Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulrasak Folorunsho Gidado has assured that the 2023 population and housing census would be recorded as the most successful headcount in the history of the country.
At a media briefing on Wednesday, Gidado said the commission has earlier launched the e-recruitment portal for the conduct of the 2022 trial census.
He explained that the commission, through its online recruitment process, requests applicants for facilitators, training centre administrators, monitoring and evaluation officers, data quality managers, supervisors and enumerators.
He said that to ensure a fair, efficient and transparent recruitment selection process, the commission would constitute a local government area recruitment team that would comprise three persons.
“And to us in the commission, the qualities of staff that will perform the census activities are very important.
“Therefore, having good knowledge of the content of the census document, the technique and the organisation of the census process is key to the success of the 2023 population census”, Gidado said.
He said that every community in the state would have the opportunity to contribute to the census workforce and make sure that people are adequately counted.
The commissioner said that the bulk of personnel for the census would accommodate at least 37,000 people from all communities in the state.
He thanked the state governor, Alhaji AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for what he described as his “unprecedented support” for the commission towards the successful conduct of the 2023 Population and Housing Census.
He urged the citizens to come out en mass to register for the current recruitment exercise as the portal is open till 28th December.
NPC Director, Alhaji Sa’eed Adebayo said that the process is certain to deliver accurateand reliable data to Nigerians.
He reiterated that the commission officially launched an online e-recruitment portal on the 28th October.
He also appreciated the media in the state for their support for the commission.
