Forty Africans from 15 countries have enrolled for the mentorship and coaching programme of the Africa Graduate Mentorship and Coaching Programme (AGMCP), which is facilitated by the Interconnections for Making Africa Great Empowered and Sustainable (IMAGES) Initiative.
The mentees are in three categories — Master, Doctoral and Post-doctoral — and represent the five economic regions and countries of the continent. From the Northern region are participants from Algeria; while their counterparts from Central Africa are citizens of Cameroon and Democratic Republic of Congo; and Western Africa have delegates from Benin Republic, Ghana, Niger Republic and Nigeria.
Eastern Africa have participants from Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Tanzania and Uganda; while the Southern Africa have mentees from Malawi, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
The AGMCP Fellowship Year runs from January to December.
According to the President of IMAGES Initiative, Dr Olawale Olayide, the 40 mentees would be assigned to renowned mentors, and conduct research and capacity development training on the Sustainable African Food Systems.
