Aliko Dangote names the access road to the Dangote Refinery ‘Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road’ in honour of President Tinubu’s support for the private sector and vision for the Lagos Free Trade Zone

Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road is the new name for the access road leading to the sprawling Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals complex, as announced by the Chairman of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, on Thursday.

The renaming is a direct honour to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support of the private sector and his long-standing vision for economic development in Nigeria.

The announcement came during President Tinubu’s tour of the refinery complex, which also coincided with the official commissioning of the Deep Sea Port Access Road.

This vital artery serves as a critical connection, linking the Lekki Deep Sea Port, the Lagos Free Trade Zone, and the Dangote Refinery to the Sagamu–Benin Expressway via Ijebu Ode.

Aliko Dangote lauded President Tinubu, describing him as the visionary behind the Lagos Free Trade Zone, a project initiated during Tinubu’s tenure as governor of Lagos State.

“The Dangote refinery complex is, in many ways, your brainchild,” Dangote told the President. He then proudly declared, “Mr President, let me just say one thing — the main road leading into our refinery is now to be known as Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road.”

The declaration was met with applause from the dignitaries present, with President Tinubu rising to shake hands with Dangote in acknowledgement.

The Dangote Refinery, recognised as one of the world’s largest single-train petroleum refineries, is a cornerstone of Nigeria’s aspirations for energy self-sufficiency and economic growth through industrialisation.

Beyond this honour, Dangote revealed the Group’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s infrastructure. Despite paying a substantial N450 billion in taxes last year, the Dangote Group is committed to investing a remarkable N900 billion in road infrastructure across the nation.

The Deep Sea Port Access Road is one of several such projects undertaken by the Dangote Group under the Federal Government’s tax credit scheme. Notably, the Dangote Group stands as Nigeria’s highest tax-paying company, contributing more in taxes than all the country’s banks combined.
