In a press release by the service on Tuesday, in which it noted rising concern from the American consulate, the NCS said that government of the United States of America is not happy over the preponderance of cases involving the misuse of entry visas by Nigerians.
To this end the service is urging Nigerians to comply with the terms of their visas and avoid activities that are inconsistent with the stated purpose of travel and visa classification.
The NCS emphasises the importance of compliance with US immigration protocols and laws to avoid any adverse consequences.
Nigerians are encouraged to be aware of the terms and conditions of their visas and to use them responsibly. This includes ensuring that they do not engage in any activities that are not permitted under their visa classification.
It stated that U.S. authorities will continuously monitor the activities of visa holders, and visas can be revoked if holders are found to have violated US immigration protocols, import/export guidelines, and other laws.
It further urges Nigerians to be mindful of this and to ensure that they comply with all relevant laws and regulations.
Travellers are reminded to declare excess cash above the minimum threshold of $10,000 or its equivalent at the point of exit or entry. This is a requirement under US law, and failure to comply can result in penalties and other consequences.
Travellers are also reminded to ensure that prohibited items are not included in their baggage. This includes items such as firearms, explosives, and other dangerous goods.
