Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the appointment of Mrs Titilayo Olarike Olayinka as the new Accountant General of the state.
The appointment takes immediate effect and comes barely 24 hours after Olayinka retired from the Ekiti State Civil Service upon attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60.
Olayinka previously served as the state’s Accountant General and Permanent Secretary from 28 November 2019 until her retirement on 24 August 2026.
Her reappointment, according to the state government, reflects Governor Oyebanji’s commitment to engaging experienced and competent professionals in strategic positions as preparations for his second-term administration gather momentum.
A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, Olayinka holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration.
She has experience spanning the private sector, public service and international development.
During her previous tenure, Ekiti State recorded several recognitions in the areas of accountability, transparency and fiscal management.
The state ranked first in the BudgIT State Fiscal Transparency League for the second, third and fourth quarters of 2024, as well as all four quarters of 2025.
Ekiti was also recognised for its local government budget transparency and performance in the Subnational Audit Efficacy Index, while ranking among the top 10 states for publishing detailed and accessible budget information across its local government areas and local council development areas.
In her new role, Olayinka has been mandated by the governor to establish a comprehensive training programme for accountants across the Ekiti State Civil Service to strengthen professional capacity.
Olayinka began her professional career as an accountant and has held several senior positions in both the public and private sectors.
She worked with Owena Mass Transportation Company and Ondo State Investment Holding Company before serving as State Programme Accountant for the United Nations Development Programme between 1999 and 2003.
She also held accounting positions in several key government agencies, including the Ministry of Health, Ekiti State Project Financial Management Unit, Ministry of Information and the State Universal Basic Education Board.
She later rose to the position of Deputy Accountant General before her appointment as Accountant General/Permanent Secretary in November 2019.
Governor Oyebanji congratulated Olayinka on her new appointment and urged her to continue serving the state with distinction, dedication and professionalism. He also commended her for her previous service to Ekiti State.
