The Kebbi State Police Command has recovered stolen electricity cables and arrested a suspected vandal in Bunza Local Government Area of the state.
The cables were recovered on 25 August 2026 during a police operation in Kara, Bunza, following reports of persistent theft and vandalism of electricity infrastructure in the area.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, said the operation led to the recovery of 10 bundles and seven sacks of electricity service cables.
According to the police, the continued vandalism of power infrastructure has resulted in blackouts and disrupted electricity supply to several communities.
The command said the suspect, identified as Mustapha Abubakar, had been arraigned before a court.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar M. Hadejia, said the command would intensify efforts to apprehend individuals and criminal networks involved in the theft and destruction of critical national infrastructure.
Hadejia reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting public assets, warning that perpetrators of such offences would face the full weight of the law.
