Tanzanian singer Juma Jux has denied claims that he fathered a child with a Tanzanian woman, saying he has never been romantically or physically involved with her.
The singer addressed the allegation days after he and his wife, Nigerian actress Priscilla Ojo Mkambala, marked the first birthday of their son, Rakeem.
Jux said the claim was not new but had recently resurfaced and begun to affect his name, family and business interests, prompting him to respond publicly.
According to the singer, he contacted the woman at the centre of the allegation, identified as Musika, to establish why she had made the claim.
Jux said Musika subsequently confirmed that she had never been physically intimate with him and that the two had never been in a romantic relationship.
He said the allegation had resurfaced despite the clarification and that the matter had now been referred to the relevant legal authorities.
Jux added that further legal action would be taken against Musika over the claims.
The singer also urged media organisations and members of the public to refrain from circulating what he described as misleading information about the matter.
He said he intended to pursue the issue through the appropriate legal channels, stressing that he had chosen to respond with “calmness, truth and the appropriate legal steps”.
