Nollywood actress Ronke Oshodi-Oke has praised her colleague Funke Akindele for her generosity and compassion, saying the filmmaker’s strict personality does not reflect the kindness known to those close to her.
Speaking on African A-List, Oshodi-Oke acknowledged that Akindele has a firm disposition, which the filmmaker has also publicly admitted.
However, she said people who know Akindele personally are familiar with a more compassionate side of the actress and producer.
According to Oshodi-Oke, Akindele regularly supports people within and outside the entertainment industry and has also assisted individuals she encounters on social media.
She said Akindele was known for lifting people’s spirits and could change the mood of visitors to her home who were having a difficult day.
Oshodi-Oke also recounted a personal experience in which Akindele provided her with financial assistance while she was dealing with an illness.
She said the support was substantial but declined to disclose the amount, explaining that Akindele preferred to help people privately rather than publicise her acts of generosity.
“I’d have loved to mention the whopping amount of money she gave me while I was sick, but we’re on the Internet, I wouldn’t,” she said.
The actress stressed that her comments were not motivated by any recent professional collaboration with Akindele, noting that she had not featured in any of her colleague’s recent film productions.
She said her assessment was based on her personal knowledge of Akindele’s character.
“Funke Akindele is a good woman. She’s very strict oo, even Funke herself says it that she knows she’s strict, but if you know her well, you will know that despite her strictness, she is very, very kind,” Oshodi-Oke said.
“She’s that person that gives and doesn’t go around talking about it. She gives and move on. She is a generously good and blessed person,” she added.
