The naira strengthened against the US dollar on Thursday, appreciating to N1,405 per dollar in the parallel market from N1,410 recorded on Wednesday.
The currency also gained in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM), where the indicative exchange rate closed at N1,322.50 per dollar, compared with N1,324.50 the previous day.
Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that the naira gained N2 against the dollar at the official market.
The improvement in the official market also narrowed the gap between the parallel and NFEM rates to N82.50 per dollar from N85.50 on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, trading activity in the official foreign exchange market increased significantly, with interbank turnover rising by 62.2 per cent to $152.04 million on Thursday from $93.7 million a day earlier.
