Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved the immediate release of two buses to Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan to support the club’s activities.
The buses, comprising a 32-seater and an 18-seater, are expected to assist the Oluyole Warriors as they continue their campaign in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The governor’s approval was disclosed in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, and made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Sunday.
According to the statement, the gesture followed Shooting Stars’ impressive victory over CS Sfaxien of Tunisia in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round tie at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
“The approval underscores the state government’s commitment to supporting the Oluyole Warriors as they represent Oyo State on the continental stage,” the statement read.
Shooting Stars’ participation in the ongoing continental competition marks the club’s first appearance in a continental tournament in 27 years.
Makinde also assured supporters and fans of the club that his administration would continue to provide the necessary support to help the team remain in contention for continental honours.
“The state government will continue to provide the necessary support to enable Shooting Stars to remain in contention for continental honours,” the statement added.
Oyelade said the government was determined not only to sustain the club’s current momentum but also to restore the old glory of the “Darling Club of Oyo State”.
He urged the players, technical crew and management of Shooting Stars to remain focused and committed, assuring them of the continued backing of the state government.
