Nigeria’s Falconets remain in contention for a place in the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after playing out a goalless draw with China at Arena Sosnowiec in Poland.
The result gave Nigeria their first point in Group F following their 2-0 defeat to Spain in their opening fixture.
The Falconets created several opportunities against China but were unable to find the breakthrough as both teams settled for a share of the points.
China came into the encounter on the back of a 5-0 victory over New Caledonia and moved to four points, leaving them second in the group.
Spain remain top with six points and have already secured their place in the Round of 16. The European champions began their campaign with a 2-0 win over Nigeria before recording one of the tournament’s biggest victories.
Nigeria will play their final group match against New Caledonia on Sunday, 13 September, knowing they need a positive result to keep their World Cup campaign alive.
Another dropped point could see the Falconets eliminated from the competition, depending on the outcome of the other Group F fixture.
