The naira appreciated to N1,370 per dollar in the parallel market on Thursday, gaining from the N1,375 recorded on Wednesday.
However, the local currency weakened to N1,329 per dollar in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM).
Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that the indicative exchange rate rose to N1,329 per dollar from N1,328 per dollar on Wednesday, indicating a N1 depreciation of the naira.
The movement narrowed the gap between the parallel and official markets to N41 per dollar, compared with N47 per dollar recorded on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the value of interbank turnover in the NFEM fell by 62.05 per cent to $105.95 million, down from $279.2 million recorded on Wednesday.
The figures indicate a mixed performance for the naira across the two foreign exchange markets, with the currency gaining in the parallel market while recording a marginal decline in the official market.
