2027 elections: Lagos tops Nigeria with 7.4m registered voters

Lagos State has the highest number of registered voters in Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

INEC Chairman, Prof Joash Amupitan, disclosed the figures on Tuesday during the commission’s World Press Conference in Abuja, held as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Lagos leads the country with 7,488,633 registered voters, followed by Kano State with 6,570,276 and Kaduna State with 4,662,640.

Katsina State ranks fourth with 3,876,051 registered voters, while Rivers State occupies fifth position with 3,736,434.

Oyo State is sixth with 3,588,111 registered voters, followed by Delta State with 3,525,988.

Benue State ranks eighth with 3,057,225 registered voters, while Ogun State is ninth with 3,037,981.

Bauchi State completes the top 10 with 3,012,547 registered voters.

The figures are part of INEC’s updated national voters’ register following the completion of the commission’s three-phase Continuous Voter Registration exercise and biometric clean-up. The updated register contains 103,428,715 registered voters.
