The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has warned Nigerians against fraudulent employment advertisements and forged appointment letters being circulated by scammers to deceive job seekers.

The warning was contained in a public notice issued by the Fund and circulated to its regional and branch managers through a memorandum dated 5 October 2026 by the Executive Director of Administration, Samaila Abdu.

According to the notice, the NSITF said it was not currently recruiting for any position and described employment advertisements circulating on social media platforms, particularly Facebook, as fraudulent.

The Fund said the fake advertisements were part of a growing trend in which individuals and groups falsely claimed to represent the NSITF in recruitment exercises.

It urged members of the public to disregard such advertisements and avoid making payments to anyone in exchange for purported employment opportunities.

The NSITF stressed that it neither charges fees for employment nor conducts recruitment through unofficial social media platforms or other unauthorised channels.

It added that genuine employment opportunities would only be announced through its official communication channels.

“Stay alert, stay safe,” the Fund urged, advising members of the public who encounter suspicious recruitment advertisements or payment requests not to respond and to report them to the appropriate NSITF authorities.

As part of measures to protect the public and safeguard the integrity of its recruitment process, the NSITF management directed all regional and branch managers to prominently display the public notice at strategic locations within their offices.

The directive covers reception areas, main entrances and exits, notice boards, SERVICOM desks and other conspicuous locations accessible to staff and members of the public.

The Fund said the notice should be displayed immediately and kept visible to ensure that members of the public were adequately informed and protected from fraudulent recruitment activities.

The NSITF further urged Nigerians, particularly job seekers, to exercise caution and verify recruitment claims through its official communication channels before taking any action.

The warning comes amid concerns over fraudulent online recruitment schemes targeting job seekers with promises of government employment in exchange for money or personal information.

The Fund’s advisory reinforces the need for applicants to remain vigilant and avoid dealing with individuals or unofficial agents who demand payment in connection with purported public-sector employment.
