Nigerian disc jockey Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has expressed admiration for her father, billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, saying she wishes she had his business acumen.
Cuppy made this known in a LinkedIn post on Monday, where she explained that she always took the opportunity to learn from her father whenever he visited London.
“Whenever Mr Femi Otedola comes to London, I must pick his brain! Why do I think it’s important to understand how my dad thinks? Tbh, I wish I had his brain. Genius!” she wrote.
The DJ said watching her father expand his investment in First HoldCo Plc had reshaped her understanding of business, teaching her that success goes beyond making money to creating value for others.
“Watching him grow his investment in First HoldCo Plc has taught me that business isn’t just about making money, but creating value for others,” she said.
Cuppy also highlighted the financial group’s new dividend policy, approved by its board in July 2026, which targets a minimum payout of 60 per cent of its annual profit after tax to shareholders, subject to regulatory approvals.
She further praised her father’s confidence in the company, noting that he had committed more than $450 million of his personal funds to its shares.
“What fascinates me even more is his confidence. He’s invested over $450 million of his own money in shares.
“Now that’s putting your money where your mouth is!” she wrote.
The entertainer said her appreciation of her father’s approach to business had grown as she grew older, adding that his way of thinking was among the most valuable lessons she continued to learn from him.
“The older I get, the more I realise that the REAL wealth is in the way he thinks. I’ll always be his student. Very happy to learn,” she added.
