Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, the National Leader of pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation Afenifere, has died at the age of 100.
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, announced the death in a statement personally issued on Tuesday, describing the late elder statesman as a respected figure whose life was dedicated to public service and the development of Yorubaland and Nigeria.

“With a heavy heart but with total submission to the will of God, I announce the passing of our revered elder statesman, Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, who departed this world at the glorious age of 100,” the governor said.

Aiyedatiwa paid tribute to Fasoranti’s contributions to Ondo State and the country, describing him as a symbol of wisdom, integrity and selfless service.

According to the governor, the late Afenifere leader’s commitment to justice and good governance, alongside his guidance and counsel, earned him widespread respect.

“His counsel, fatherly guidance and principled stand on issues of justice and good governance will be sorely missed,” the statement added.

The governor also noted that Fasoranti had left behind a lasting legacy of honour and service that would continue to inspire future generations.

On behalf of the Ondo State Government and its people, Aiyedatiwa extended his condolences to the deceased’s family, the people of Akure Kingdom and residents of the state.

He prayed for the peaceful repose of the elder statesman’s soul.

Fasoranti’s death marks the loss of a prominent Yoruba leader whose involvement in socio-political affairs made him an influential voice on issues concerning the region and Nigeria as a whole.
