The Nigeria international missed Milan’s training session on Wednesday morning ahead of their UEFA Europa League fixture against Premier League side Bournemouth.
According to Italian outlet Sport Mediaset, Chukwueze is scheduled to undergo a specialist examination to determine the severity of the injury and establish his likely recovery period.
The Serie A club are reportedly concerned that the problem could be serious enough to keep the 27-year-old out of action for several weeks or potentially months.
Chukwueze has made a promising start to the current campaign under Ruben Amorim following his return from a loan spell at Fulham.
The winger has recorded two assists in eight appearances across all competitions for the Italian giants this season.
His potential absence would be a setback for Milan as they assess the extent of the injury and await further medical updates on the Nigerian forward.
