The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has concluded arrangements to refund excess Hajj deposits to 500 intending pilgrims who paid ₦8 million each towards the 2027 Hajj exercise.
The board’s Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Dederi, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, quoting the Director-General, Abubakar Matawalle, as saying the refund process was ready to commence.
“Arrangements have been concluded for the refund of excess payments to 500 intending pilgrims who initially deposited ₦8,000,000 each,” Matawalle said.
He explained that following the announcement of the final Hajj fare of ₦7,672,822, each of the affected pilgrims was entitled to a refund of ₦327,178, representing the difference between the initial deposit and the approved fare.
Matawalle urged the affected pilgrims to contact the board through their respective Local Government Hajj Centre officers and submit the necessary documents to facilitate the refund process.
The required documents include bank account details, a photocopy of the original payment receipt and a formal letter requesting the refund.
He said the documents must be submitted on or before Monday, 26 October 2026, to enable the board to commence payments.
The Director-General commended the Kano State Government for its continued support and contributions towards ensuring the welfare of pilgrims in the state.
