Speaking at a recent event organised by EeZee Conceptz, the singer disclosed that she had no intention of returning to Nigeria while she was processing her residency documents, but her plans did not work out.
Chidinma said the chief executive officer of EeZee Conceptz was the only person who consistently contacted her from Nigeria during her time abroad, encouraging her to return.
“I travelled. I ran away from Nigeria. I was processing my papers not to come back to Nigeria, but for some reason, it didn’t work,” she said.
She explained that the music executive’s continued encouragement helped her find the strength to return home, after which she approached him for a gospel music contract.
“While I was abroad, the CEO of EeZee Conceptz was the only one who was calling me from Nigeria. He kept encouraging me, and I found the strength to come back to Nigeria,” she said.
Chidinma added that upon her return, she asked the executive to offer her a gospel music contract because she wanted to dedicate more time to her relationship with God.
“When I came back, I asked him to give me a gospel music contract because I want to spend time with God. And he gave me a contract that even my lawyer said seemed like a charity,” she stated.
The singer further clarified that her decision to switch from secular to gospel music was not primarily driven by a desire to make gospel songs, but by her yearning to build a deeper and more meaningful relationship with God.
Her revelation offers insight into the personal journey behind her transition to gospel music and the role EeZee Conceptz played in supporting the next phase of her career.
