Ekiti State has emerged as the leading state in Nigeria in terms of achieving its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) target, recording 98.1 per cent performance as of September 2026.

According to the State Budget Implementation Reports for the third quarter of 2026, Ekiti ranked first among the eight states that achieved at least 75 per cent of their budgeted IGR targets out of the 32 states assessed.

Delta State followed with 96.1 per cent, while Kogi State came third with 92.2 per cent.

The latest performance marks another milestone in Ekiti’s fiscal management efforts, following sustained growth in revenue generation. The state’s IGR reportedly increased by more than 60 per cent over the past year.

The development reflects the efforts of the Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji administration to strengthen the state’s revenue base, improve fiscal discipline and increase its capacity to fund development projects and other priorities.

The administration’s fiscal policies are anchored on its shared prosperity agenda, with emphasis on sustainable revenue generation, prudent management of public resources and improved service delivery.
