Soldiers’ killing: Northern group condoles with Tinubu, others

The Nineteen Seventeen Northern Consensus Movement for Peace, Unity, Empowerment and Development Initiative (NSNCM) has extended its condolence to President Bola Tinubu; the Minister of Defence Mohammed Badaru Abubakar; the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle; the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa; service chiefs, the Armed Forces, and Nigerians over the killing of 16 soldiers and a civilian in the communal crisis between the Okuama and Okoloba communities of Delta State.

In a statement by the National President, Awwal Aliyu Abdullahi, the movement said: “Our hearts are heavy with grief as we extend our deepest condolences to the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the families of the brave soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty, and the Federal Government.

“The sacrifices made by these soldiers in the fight against criminal activities will never be forgotten.

“We want to express our appreciation for the tireless efforts of our Armed forces in combating criminalities within our borders. Their dedication and bravery are truly commendable”.

According to the group, “in light of the recent tragic events in Delta State, we urge the Armed Forces not to be discouraged but to continue their crucial work in protecting our nation.

“We call on the Delta State Government and communities to fully cooperate with the Armed forces in identifying and bringing the criminals responsible to justice.

“We also appeal to all Nigerians to support our Armed forces by providing valuable information and intelligence to aid in their operations. Together, we can ensure the safety and security of our country.

“It is disheartening that days have passed since the senseless murder of these innocent soldiers, and yet, human rights organisations have remained silent.

“We challenge them to speak out against this heinous act and stand up for the defenders of human lives and properties.

“We stand united in grief and solidarity with the Armed Forces of Nigeria and reaffirm our commitment to supporting them in their mission to protect our nation.

“We encourage the head of the defender’s of defenceless, the protectors of the Nigerian nation against internal and external aggressors General Christopher Gwabin Musa to continue on his part of ensuring the oneness safety and security of the citizens along with his colleagues the service Chiefs in carrying out the instructions of the Commander-in Chiefs of the Nigerian Armed Forces Bola Ahmad Tinubu GCFR.

“While we request the President continued support to the Armed forces of Nigeria as he has always been doing”.
