To keep primary and secondary schools clean and hygienic for both teachers and pupils especially during school hours, the Senator representing Kaduna Central district, Lawal Adamu Usman has layed foundation for the construction of modern restrooms, solar boreholes and overhead tanks across schools in his constituency.

At the laying foundation ceremony at Sabon Tasha, Chikum Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Senator Usman explained that the project is to keep the schools clean through building modern restrooms, and solar boreholes, with each tank contains 5, 000 litres of water.

Usman, who is the Chairman of Senate Committee on Primary and Secondary School Education, said that “this project consists of two VIP toilets for 30 schools across the senatorial district.

“We all know how water is important to us in our daily lives. Water is life, that is why we laid this foundation for the construction for boreholes, overhead tanks and modern restrooms in order to have hygiene environments”.

He said that teachers would be giving modern instructional teaching materials which would ease their work, adding: “We’re very much concerned about education been the bedrock of any meaningful development.

“Early this week, we laid a foundation for construction of 100 smart classrooms attached with modern teaching materials across this senatorial district, and each block of classrooms is attached with administrative offices, modern restrooms and solar boreholes.

Usman promised that, as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Primary and Secondary Education, “I will ensure that I leave a legacy. My legacy is education. If you give education to a child, you have given him the best asset”, he added.

Staff of the school, Patience Rafael Kabushi and Victoria Bulus, said: “We have been awaiting for this for years, as we don’t have toilets in our school. When we want to use toilets, we either go to the bush or we wait until we go back home, so we are very grateful for this gesture.

“We are also happy for laying foundation for 5, 000 litres of solar boreholes and instructional teaching materials for teachers and students that will be given school bags and mini computers. This will ease our work”.
