Blue Seal Chemical Production Plant Limited, a leading manufacturer of speciality oilfield and industrial chemicals, has recently constructed an ultra-modern chemical raw materials production plant in Ibeju Lekki, near Dangote Refinery, La

The chemical plant, which is the first of four factories to be built across Nigeria, is the product of a Joint Venture (JV) between its parent companies, Blue Seal Energy Group Inc., and R & F Industries Inc, two chemical manufacturing giants in North America.

The Managing Director/CEO of Blue Seal Chemical Production Plant, Dr. Doyle Edeni said in Lagos that the vision of the company is to bring industrial and oilfield chemical solutions, such as process treatment chemicals, production chemicals used in the oilfield, boiler, cooling water, waste water, potable water treatment and other industrial chemicals to the door steps of prospective clients across Africa.

According to him, Blue Seal Energy Group has been supplying critical chemical raw materials to industries and oil and gas plants in Nigeria from its manufacturing base in Texas, United States, for nearly two decades.

Edeni said that the operation has been impacted by Covid-19 pandemic, the outbreak of war between Russia and Ukrainian, the current war in the Middle East and the negative impact on global logistics, which has led to the closure of several factories across Africa due to lack of critical chemical raw materials to feed production lines.

“This global supply chain problem coupled with general lack of access to foreign exchange currencies with which to order chemical raw materials on time by most manufacturers provided the compelling reason for the JV to make the decision to move its manufacturing base to Africa considering the growth opportunities that exist in the continent”, he said.

Edeni further said that, over the next decade, the JV intends to establish 10 major factories across Africa with Kenya, Angola, and Senegal slated as beneficiaries of the next wave of investments.

According to Edeni, “Africa has the raw materials and human resources to fend for itself and backed up with the financial resources and technology of its parent Blue Seal Energy and R&F Industries. The JV is poised to make chemical additives and reagents readily available to industrial and oilfield clients across Africa at affordable prices”.
