The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Kaduna State Chapter, has partnered with the Kaduna State Ministry of Health to organize a health walk aimed at sensitizing the general public on the importance of testing to know their health status.

Speaking at the sensitization and walk for health rally in Kaduna, the Chairman of AGN Kaduna Chapter, Barrister Nasiru Musa Tamba, emphasized that health is wealth. ‘Every 12th of April every year is our health walk.

He maintained that ‘We’re here to show the world that we’re healthy by checking our blood pressure and sugar levels’, Tamba said.

Tamba further explained that the guild’s participation in the health walk is part of their contribution to the state’s health sector. ‘As actors, if you’re not healthy, you can’t act. We’re going to key into the governor’s health initiative to ensure everyone checks their health’, he added.

The AGN chairman emphasized the importance of health awareness, reiterating that ‘health is wealth’ and encouraging everyone to always check their health status.

Responding on behalf of the Kaduna State Government, Abubakar Hassan, Director-General of Kaduna State Health Contributory Management Agency (KADCHMA), appreciated the AGN’s partnership.

He disclose that the objective of this health walk will not be taken for granted. Our governor, Senator Uba Sani, has shown commitment to healthcare by allocating over 16% of the state’s budget to the health sector’, Hassan said.

The Director general highlighted the
government’s efforts in rehabilitating healthcare facilities across the 23 local government area in the state.

‘The governor has rehabilitated 255 primary healthcare centres, secondary health facilities, and tertiary institutions in Kaduna.

‘We’re calling on all institutions to emulate this commitment and raise people’s consciousness about health-seeking behavior’, he emphasized.

Hassan urged the public to key into the government’s health initiatives. ‘The health of our people is truly important. We cannot develop while people are sick. We’re calling on our residents to support the vision and journey started by His Excellency in the era of health’, he added.
