Alaba Lawson, Iyalode of Yorubaland, for burial 8th December – Family

Chief (Mrs.) Alaba Lawson, who until her passage on Saturday 28th October was the Iyalode of Yorubaland, is to be buried on 8th December in her hometown, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. The renowned educationist and entrepreneur was 72 years old.

In a statement, her Media Adviser, Prince Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji said that the family agreed on the funeral arrangement at a meeting on Sunday.

From 1st to 6th December, various groups, associations and professional bodies will celebrate the deceased, while a service of song holds on 7th December at Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta.

On 8th December, a burial church service will take place at St. James African Church, Idi-Ape, Abeokuta, to be followed with interment, which is meant strictly for the family of the deceased.

The family meeting, which was chaired by legendary musician, Chief Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, also set up a committee to finetune the programme of events.

According to the statement, the Central Planning Committee is headed by Sanya Abiola, while other members include Kayode-Adedeji (Head of Media sub-committee), with Tayo Akintayo, Sesan Bankole, and Akin Jiboku as members of the media sub-committee. Ayo Olusanya heads the Ceremonial /Entertainment sub-committee, Olalekan Jiboku is Head of Security sub-committee, while Tunji Akintayo is Head of Protocol/Logistics sub-committee.

The family meeting, which was chaired by legendary musician, Chief Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, also approved other members of the Central Planning Committee to include Akinola Lawson, Babalola Lawson, Oreoluwa Obey-Fabiyi and Taiwo Jiboku.
