The Arewa Cohesion for Peace, Unity and Development Initiative has extended warm felicitations to former military President, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd.) on the occasion his 84th birthday on Sunday.
The initiative described Babangida as a father figure, elder statesman, and one of Nigeria’s most iconic leaders, whose wealth of experience, wisdom, and foresight continue to inspire generations.
The group’s Director General, Dr. Abdullahi Idris recalled the warm reception that the former military leader accorded to the leadership of the initiative during a courtesy visit to his Hilltop residence in Minna, the Niger State capital.
He noted that the former President graciously endorsed the vision and objectives of the initiative, which aims to strengthen peace, unity, and development in Northern Nigeria.
Idris described Babangida’s endorsement as a great source of encouragement, adding that his words of wisdom have continued to guide the initiative’s interventions.
He praised Babangida’s commitment to the ideals of unity, justice, and progress, describing him as a revered elder statesman whose counsel remains invaluable to Nigeria’s democratic journey.
On behalf of the Arewa Cohesion family, Idris prayed Almighty Allah to bless Babangida with continued good health, long life, and inner peace.
He noted that Nigeria and the North, in particular, would continue to benefit from Babangida’s wisdom and fatherly guidance.
