A tragic incident occurred on Saturday morning at the busy Muslim Expressway when a young girl was struck by a car while attempting to cross the road.
Eyewitnesses reported that the girl, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, was trying to make her way across the expressway when a speeding vehicle hit her.
Passersby quickly rushed to her aid before she was taken to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
Residents in the area expressed concern over the lack of pedestrian bridges and safety measures on the expressway, noting that accidents of this nature have become frequent.
One eyewitness, who simply identified himself as Ibrahim, said: ‘This is not the first time something like this is happening here. The road is very dangerous for pedestrians, especially children’.
At the time of filling this report, police are yet to release an official statement, but concerned members of the public are calling on the government to put in place stronger road safety measures, including pedestrian crossings and speed control signs, to prevent future occurrences.
