Christian clergies mourn over Iranian president’s death

Nigerian Christian clergies also joined global leaders in sending condolences to the people of Iran and Muslims worldwide over the death of Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash over the weekend.

In his message of condolence to the people of Iran and Muslims worldwide, the General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry in Sabon Tasha, Kaduna, Pastor Yohanna Buru expressed shock over the tragic incident.

He said: “Ebrahim Raisi’s death is all over the media. I read in a newspaper about the sudden death of the Iranian president in a helicopter crash yesterdays . My heartfelt condolences to his family and the people of Iran”.

According to state media, Raisi; Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian; and others were found dead at the helicopter crash site on Sunday after hours-long search through a foggy, mountainous region in the country’s northwest. Raisi was 63.

Dr. Buru described the death as shocking and prayed to Almighty God to grant Raisi paradise.

“I extend my deepest condolences to the Iranian government and people over the passing of President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and those accompanying them following this tragic accident. We pray that God grants them eternal rest and we extend our heartfelt sympathies to their families”, he said.

He said that he was “deeply saddened and shocked by the tragic demise” of Raisi.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ali Khamenei, and to the nation of Iran, its government, and people. We express our solidarity with the brotherly Iranian people and the officials of the Islamic Republic during this painful tragedy”, he added.

Buru also used the opportunity to extend his condolences to the people of Kano State over the mosque attack that resulted in a rising death toll of 15 by a single individual

He conveyed his sympathies to the state government and Muslims across Nigeria, and called for ceaseless prayers

Similarly, Pastor George John Kaduna condoled with Iranian and the world Muslim league over the crash.

He said: “We symphatise with the government and people of Iran over the helicopter crash, We pray that God grant all that died Aljannah firdaus We will also keep praying and fasting for world peace and unity”.
