Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clubs have a deadline of this Friday complete and submit all processes of club licencing for the 2022/23 season.
In a circular by NPFL’s Head of Operations, Prince Davidson Owumi, the clubs were told that “any club that fails to complete the club licencing requirements risks being foreclosed from participating in the 2022/23 season”.
Several circulars had been issued including the timeline and detailed procedure on submitting to the club licencing regulations, which is a pre-requisite for participation in the NPFL.
The last memo to clubs on this was dated 25th October, in which Owumi reiterated that “this should be considered the last extension of time for all concerned clubs to enable them secure licences to participate in the new season”.
Club licencing is a mandatory requirement of the world football governing body, FIFA and Confederation of African Football, which clubs affiliated to member-federations must comply with to play professional football.
No date has been fixed for the commencement of the 2022/23 NPFL season.
The premier league is under an interim management.
