In a sweeping political shift, a former Adamawa State deputy governor Crother Seth has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) along with hundreds of others from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Seth, who served as deputy governor during Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s first term from 2019 to 2023, formally registered with the APC during a major event in Yola, the state capital, on Thursday.

He was sidelined from Fintiri’s re-election team in 2023, when the governor selected Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta as his running mate in a strategic move believed to counter the rising popularity of APC’s female governorship candidate, Senator Aishatu Ahmed (also known as Binani).

Seth’s defection was one of several high-profile switches, including those of philanthropist and businessman Abdulrahman Haske; former Chief Judge of the state, Justice Ambrose Mamman; and former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Gibson Nathaniel.

The APC’s National Vice Chairman for the North East, Mustapha Salihu welcomed the defectors, describing the development as a significant boost to the party’s strength and appeal ahead of future elections.

‘We welcome these leaders who bring experience and influence to our party as we consolidate for the future’, he said.

Thursday’s event also featured the inauguration of APC’s new state secretariat in Yola and a solidarity rally in support of President Bola Tinubu.

Party leaders used the platform to reassure the public about President Bola Tinubu’s reform agenda, urging Nigerians to remain patient amid current economic challenges.

They argued that while the reforms may be causing hardship, they are designed to yield long-term benefits and economic stability.
