Edo State Commissioner for Arts and Culture, Dr. Uyi Makaka has expressed the commitment of the Godwin Obaseki-led administration to support the promotion and export of the rich cultural heritage of the Edo people to the international communities.
The commissioner said that, in line with the administration’s efforts to promote and sustain culture and tradition, the government had continued to put in place structures where talent among performing artists could be harnessed.
Makaka stated this on Friday in Benin City, while playing host to representatives of Moses Iyoha Memorial Foundation, a Spanish delegation that visited the state to intimate the ministry of its intention and support towards its planned cultural festival slated to take place in Spain later in the year.
While receiving the delegation, she urged them to be good ambassadors of the state just as she promised the ministry’s support in ensuring the group had a successful outing in Spain.
She added” “Whatever we are exporting from Edo State should bring us honour and glory. We expect you to be good ambassadors of the state. We want you to go and bring us accolade”.
The leader of the delegation, Kennedy Iyoha thanked the Commissioner for the reception and disclosed that the musical engagement is to promote Benin culture to the international communities and expose the artist to talent hunters.
