I grant that, sadly, our governments are not very tidy in the manner some of the land taken for public use is managed from transparency to fair compensation, etc.
I see a lack of political will at the collective level as responsible for this outcome, where was Ohaneze Ndigbo and others while this was going on. All their interest is on land in Lagos State.
Given the perceived antagonism to Igno investments in Lagos State, what I would have expected is a concerted effort by the Igbo as a group to make more investments in the Southeast, with governments, community leaders, etc working together to create a conducive environment.
Bola Tinubu ran after Aliko Dangote and, made him a deal and that is how the refinery is in Lagos. Dangote was initially interested in building the refinery in Ogun State. He ran into trouble with the then governor, Ibikunle Amosun, and the rest is history.
At individual level, the Igbo are great, but at the collective, more work needs to be done. This is my humble opinion.
I have tried to approach this issue objectively, you the reader would be the judge of that. My prayer is to see more investments by the Igbo, other Nigerians and foreigners in the Southeast, as this would reduce the tension in Lagos and other parts of the southwest about investments by the Igbo.
