The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has resealed four buildings across the state due to contraventions of building regulations.

Located in various parts of Lagos, the buildings were found to be in violation of multiple safety and construction standards.

According to LASBCA General Manager, Arc. Gbolahan Oki, the resealing was part of ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with the state’s effort in protecting the lives and property of residents.

The agency noted that the affected structures had previously been marked for contraventions, including unauthorized construction, non-compliance with approved building plans, and failure to obtain necessary permits.

Oki emphasised that the agency remains committed to enforcing building regulations across the state.

“We can not afford to overlook violations that put the safety of lives and properties at risk.

“The resealing exercise is to ensure that building owners comply with all necessary requirements before continuing any construction work,” he stressed.

He also warned that LASBCA will continue to carry out regular inspections and enforcement exercises across the state, stressing that any building found to be in violation will face appropriate penalties, including resealing and possible demolition

The agency urged property owners and developers to adhere strictly to building regulations and seek necessary approvals before commencing construction.

LASBCA also encouraged members of the public to report any suspected illegal building activities in their neighborhoods to the authorities.

The recent action is part of the Lagos State government’s broader strategy to curb illegal developments and enhance the safety of the built environment.
