Senator Nanedi Usman, National Interim Chairperson of the Labour Party (LP), has expressed her desire to be remembered for leaving behind a united, formidable, and indomitable party capable of winning elections nationwide.
In her inaugural address, Usman emphasized the need for forgiveness, integrity, and fairness to achieve this goal.
Usman acknowledged the party’s previous conflicts but stressed that no group or individual should feel defeated, as everyone emerged victorious through the reality of the law. She encouraged party members to put aside their differences and work together towards a common goal.
The interim chairperson extended an olive branch to all party members, including Julius Abure and others, urging them to join forces for the party’s progress. She warned that those who promote division and conflict would be met with prayers, while those who work towards unity would find support.
Usman emphasized the importance of unity, stating, “No matter how long it takes, those who keep faith, reason together, fight together from the trenches as a band of brothers and soldiers of freedom are bound to win together as victors of liberty.”
Prof. Theophilus Ndubuaku, Acting Chairman of the NLC Political Commission, also appealed for support for the interim committee, saying, “Come, let us build together. There is no victor, no vanquished.”
