In a night that sparkled with glamour and significance, MC Charlene emerged as a beacon of inspiration at the inaugural Global African Diaspora Awards (GADA), held  recently at the Park 8 Event Centre in Houston, Texas.

The awards ceremony celebrated outstanding individuals from the global African diaspora, recognising their contributions to various fields and their unwavering commitment to making a positive impact within their communities. The event attracted a wide array of attendees  from oil and gas executives, tech professionals to entrepreneurs and artists  all united by a shared heritage and the mission to uplift and celebrate the African diaspora.

Among the honourees, MC Charlene stood out for her exceptional contribution as a female entrepreneur, MC and promoter in the entertainment sector.

As a multifaceted entrepreneur, social worker, MC and an advocate for African women in the entertainment industry, she has made waves in her community and beyond.

With her innovative approach to business and her unwavering commitment to promoting women empowerment, MC Charlene embodies the spirit of the GADA Awards by winning ‘MC of the Year’.

From mentorship programs to skill development workshops, MC Charlene has dedicated her life to fostering opportunities that allow young women to realise their potential in the entertainment industry.

In her acceptance speech, MC Charlene expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the recognition and emphasised the importance of women not limited themselves in the entertainment industry. She said: “It’s not easy being a woman in the entertainment industry, but never give up on your dreams because women can to it all. What a man can do, a woman can do it too”.

She further said: “Women are working hard in the entertainment industry and they deserve to be awarded equality as the men. Women should never give up, even when it’s a male-dominated the industry, we, the women should continue working and pushing.

“This award is not just for me; it represents the collective efforts of many who strive for positive change. Together, we can uplift our communities and pave the way for future generations”.

She stated that her vision aligns with the goals of the GADA Awards, which aims to honor individuals who are making significant contributions to their respective fields.

The GADA Awards, produced by Diaspora Glitz magazine, an Afrocentric publication, is dedicated to amplifying the voices of the global African diaspora, and serve as a platform to recognise and celebrate these contributions. Founder/Executive Producer of the GADA Awards, Obi-West Utchaychukwu announced plans to expand the awards to multiple countries, starting with France and Lagos, Nigeria, in the following year.

The event emphasised the importance of acknowledging the efforts of those who continue to work tirelessly for progress, not just within their communities but on a global scale.
