Rei Obaigbo has made history as the first ever Mrs Nigeria to reach the semifinals of the Mrs World pageant.
The latest edition of the Mrs World contest was hosted at West Gates Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada, United States on 17th December.
Conceived in 1984, it is the first beauty pageant for married women, and spawned from Mrs America.
Competing alongside 63 other contestants from across the world, Obaigbo donned gorgeous Afro on the night. She had beaten 35 others in the Mrs Nigeria contest in May 2021 to represent Nigeria at the Mrs World 2022.
The contest measures beauty, grace, ambition and intelligence as part of its criteria.
Although the crown was eventually secured by Mrs India, Mrs Nigeria won the judges over with her platform, running on environmentalism, advocacy, grace and ambition.
She dug into her Nigerian roots, competing with a beautiful Afro, a grand green gele, ankara-inspired gowns and traditional Edo attire during the categories.
In addition to this crowning achievement in representing Nigeria, Obaigbo is the President of Fibiaci Nigeria Young Members Council, the Nigerian chapter of a global real estate institution which offers international intenship programmes and scholarships to its young members. She is also the CEO of her own company, Oreime Group, and hosts The Gathering Africa, a bi-monthly spoken word event which gives back to the creative writing and art community.
Obaigbo is on the environmentalism board for Ecoprolive, a waterway cleanup project, and is a member of various professionnal associations and community empowering groups.
A statement on the official pages of Mrs Nigeria reads: “We are delighted that Mrs World pageant has chosen Rei Obaigbo for this award.
