A film producer, Tolulope Oke has decried the threats and hazards to human lives as a result of environmental pollution.
Oke stated that environmental pollution through the use of pesticides has become an anomaly and it is dangerous to human existence.
She said that there should be a growing awareness of evidence that chemicals from pesticides pose serious health hazards to the people.
Oke recently produced a film, Oke Okuta (Uphill), which is to educate and enlighten the audience about environmental hazards .
She is from Osun State and studied Sociology at the University of Lagos, and Dramatic Art at Obafemi Awolowo University. She has featured in several film productions.
Oke said that what inspired her to produce the short film is that she intentionally wants to tell stories of hope to the audience and also to showcase her talent as an actor and film producer.
She said that viewers would be aware more of their environment and the hazards pesticides for farming to control pest.
The core message of the film is its focus on environmental pollution and health care system in the rural areas, saying that it exposes the audience to environmental degradation, and how to protect themselves form health hazards due to the use of pesticides. The chemicals, she explained, poses serious and long term risks to health of the people.
