All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away. No one calls on your name or strives to lay hold of you; for you have hidden your face from us and made us waste away because of our sins – Isaiah 64:3
For we ALL have sinned. There is no worse way for a man to die before death. When your heart dies inside your body, then people will just take it that you slumped and died.
Let us say the truth, Sammie Okposo was dead to us. The moment it was leaked that he was a sinner, he was dead to us. We became too righteous for him. The Gospel singer with a love for singing the praise of the Lord lost his sanctuary. We the sanctimonious people wanted absolutely nothing to do with the wretched sinner called Sammie Okposo.
Just like it was done to Jesus Christ, in his time of serious need, man turned his back on him. We refused to forgive him when he turned to us to ask for it.
I listened to his last interview. He was sorry. He was apologetic for his transgression. He put the blame squarely on himself. “I did it”, he said. “I regret I did it. I wish I can take it back”. He did not blame it on the Devil. like most of us will do. He blamed it on the ordinary mortal in him. We the God’s Angels refused to listen or forgive him.
Sammie had something lots of us do not and will never have. He had a conscience. His mistake was to turn and expect a lot from man. He took his case to God. He should have left it there. When you rely on man, sudden death is what you get. Betrayal of trust is what you get. Unforgiveness is what you get. Hypocrisy is what you get. The social media is agog with praises for him after his death. Where were you all when he died before his death? The Bible says: “If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us”.
FROM ME TO YOU…
No one has the right to judge you. They might have heard your stories, but they didn’t feel what you were going through. No matter what you do, there will always be someone who thinks differently.
So, concentrate on doing what you know in your heart is right. What most people think and say about you isn’t all that important. What is important is how you feel about yourself before God.
Say to them: “As surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked should turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! For why you should die, O house of Israel?” – Ezekiel 33:11
Rest in His bosom. Heaven needed someone to sing God’s praise. That is why He took you, Sammie.
