The Atlas Lions of Morroco have been commended for becoming the first Africa side to qualify for the semi-final of the FIFA World Cup.

The Atlas Lions defeated Portugal 1-0 in the quarter-final played at Al Thumama Stadium in Doha on Saturday.

After the historic game, the CEO and Publisher of Sportspro News, Bayour Issah lauded the team for their heroism, which he said has now become a benchmark for African countries in the FIFA World Cup.

“The Morrocans have been able to set a new record and break the barrier for other African teams. Their achievement will continue to serve as inspiration to others in subsequent editions of the World Cup. It’s a new dawn for African football”, he said.

Morroco’s impressive run has seen them beat Belgium in their last group stage match and Spain on penalties in the Round of 16, causing major upsets that has characterised the mundial in this edition.
