The former Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Prof. Suleiman Bogoro will deliver the fifth anniversary lecture of Penpushing Media, scheduled to hold 25th July in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.
According to a statement by the event’s Planning Committee Chairperson, Dr. Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi; and Secretary, Mr. Sina Adefolahan, the renowned development expert’s paper would centre on, ‘Burden of Inclusivity and Nigeria’s Democracy.
The committee, which said that the event would hold at the Marquee Events Centre of Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, added that the sub-theme panelists included General Manager Fresh FM Abeokuta, Samson Akindele, who would speak on ‘Political Minority’; while David Anyaele of the Centre for Citizens with Disability would focus on ‘Inclusivity and People Living With Disability; and Founder of Women Radio WFM, Mrs Toun Okewale-Sonaiya would speak on ‘Inclusivity and Gender’.
The guest lecturer is a leader on the pioneer Council of the Think Tank for Translating Research to Innovations, Strategies, Evidence for Policy and National Development, created by the University of Ibadan Research Foundation.
In the initial part of his first tenure as TETFund Executive Secretary, Bogoro’s interest in research and development led to the creation of the Department of Research and Development at the TETFund.
He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture in 1981 from the University of Maiduguri; Master’s in Animal Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1988; and a Ph.D in Animal Science at the Federal University of Technology (now Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University), Bauchi in 1997. He became Professor of Animal Science (specialising in Biochemistry and Ruminant Nutrition) in 2003.
The prolific researcher is among the senior and accomplished leaders providing oversight as members of the Council for the National Think Tank for Translating Research to Innovations, Strategies and Evidence for Policies in Nigeria. The leaders are academics, professional officers, technical, business and administrative leaders selected from universities, research institutions, national agencies and the media
Bogoro has numerous publications in international and local journals, with his versatility also projected through consultancy on management of international, national and regional projects supported by the World Bank and other international agencies.
The planning committee explained the lecture has become an annual event and has recorded resounding successes. Previous lecturers included former Vice Chancellor University of Lagos, Prof Oye Ibidapo-Obe (now Late); Country Director, United Nations Information Centre, Mr Ronald Kayanja; former Vice Chancellor Tai Solarin University of Education, Prof. Yemisi Obilade; and Regional Director for West Africa at Ford Foundation, Dr. Chichi Aniagolu.
