The World Health Organisation (WHO) has supported the Journalists Initiative on Immunisation (JAP) to carry out intensive road shows in communities within Giwa Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State towards ensuring successful coverage of the ongoing measles-rubella, polio immunisation and other ongoing vaccinations.

At the road show campaign, which took place in Shika Gari and Angwan Katsinawa of the LGA, the District Head of Shika, Mallam Abdulkarim Aboki said that the vaccination campaign has gained acceptance as parents and caregivers did not presenting any complaints.

The chief asserted that the vaccines are safe aim at improving the health of children and adolescent girls.

Aboki, therefore, commended WHO for sponsoring JAP activities which have brought entertainment and more vaccine acceptance in the ongoing integrated vaccination exercise.

Last Thursday, the state government launched the measles-rubella vaccination campaign and other vaccine-preventable diseases such as polio and HPV targeting 4.2 million children and adolescent girls across the 23 LGAs.

The integrated measles and rubella campaign also included oral polio vaccination, deworming, and distribution of insecticide-treated mosquito nets, underscoring the state’s comprehensive approach to improving child health and preventing disease outbreaks through strong partnerships and community engagement.
