The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike has fired back at those within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who are calling for his expulsion, declaring that no one possesses the authority or the courage to remove him from the party he has served diligently for years.

During a media parley in Abuja on Monday, Wike asserted that his continued membership and significant contributions to the party. ‘I am still in the PDP. I worked hard for the party’, he said.
He further challenged his detractors, asking: ‘I have not seen anybody who will have the guts to tell me, “Wike, you are not a member of the party”. Who is that? What is his contribution to the party that is more than me’?
Wike’s remarks come amidst growing tensions within the PDP, largely fueled by his prominent role in the current All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration of President Bola Tinubu, and his perceived political positioning, which has been seen by some as contrary to the PDP’s interests.
Some prominent figures, like former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, have openly called for Wike’s expulsion, labeling him a “disaster” and criticizing actions such as the temporary sealing of the PDP national secretariat by the FCT Administration for unpaid ground rent.
Despite the internal criticisms and calls for his removal, the former governor of Rivers State made it abundantly clear that his loyalty to the PDP remains, and he will not be easily pushed out.
He has also previously stated he would lead the PDP’s 2027 campaign in Rivers State.
