Ten students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) who have the best business ideas pitches will be rewarded with a three-month apprenticeship, mentoring, and start-up funds to expose their business ideas to the larger Nigerian community.

The winners will be selected at the first MotivaComedy Students Entrepreneurial Summit, which will take place on 4 December at UNILAG’s Afe Babalola auditorium.

Received by the university community, led by the Dean of Faculty of Arts, Prof. Akanbi Mudasiru Ilupeju, the students’ union leaders pledged to do all within their means to support and mobillise the students’ population to attend the free summit.

Other members of the university administration with Ilupeju are Sub Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Henry Ogunjewo; and the Head of the Department of Philosophy, Prof. Chiedozie Benjamin Okoro.

The event coordinator, Mr. Somi Uranta, who led the team of organisers, said the event is “just the starting point of what we intend to take round the country. We are starting here because UNILAG is the university of first choice in Nigeria, and it is only natural that being an Akokite myself, charity should and must begin from home. Great things starts here first”.

Uranta, who is also the Founder/CEO of Somi Steam Car Wash/Bar, Oregun, Lagos, said that this is not the first time MotivaComedy is organising such summit since its founding 12 years ago.

The theme of the summit is, ‘Mindset Change: From Job Seekers to Job Creators’. The organisers said the event will be taken round tertiary institutions in the six geo- political zones.

Many coporate bodies and several individuals who have made a mark within the business ecosystem have been lined up to inculcate in the students the spirit of enterprise and entrepreneuring at the summit.
